Hey guys, just got a new 300l tank set up after a couple years without fish. Really happy to have something going again at last. Tank busy cycling in a bit. Want to get a group of Discus in there when everything is going nicely. Still reading all i can on creating the best environment..
Hello and Welcome to TASA. I must say you are lucky.Capetown is "Discus Valley" so i am sure the Capetonians that keep end breed Discus will be able to help you out.
Welcome! The Prof (who is away currently) is the king of Discus... you've come to the right place. Do a search of previous threads on Discus if you're looking for some info
Thanks! looking for people that have nice fish round here. petshop stock i've seen round here not really something I want to spend money on. Thanks, yes I've been searching for all info I can find.. already noticed I should probably go pay the Prof a visit when he comes back, hehe.
Welcome dude. The Prof would be your best option right now for sourcing good Discus. He is away fro a few weeks.... but patience will provide you with a wealth of information. The prof also sells excellent quality food, and will advise you on how to maintain excellent quality discus.
Thanks, trouble is just to stay patient with this hobby! already see myself going in too deep again, pocket and time wise. One thing I'm looking for is decent and affordable water testing. not sure which way to go, cheap pH testing kit? all in one testing kit (couple hundred Rand for 50 tests)? Really want to learn all i can and get conditions right and stable before just dumping fish in there..
I've had my API Masters test kit (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH) for 18 months now. And still going strong. Paid R450.00 for it, but I have no regrets. I have been eyeing the Sera kit. (About R800.00)
I'll look into that. What's the best places to get supplies like that? Online? close by I have Panorama pets and some other small shops.. but couldn't really find decent help or variety at pet shops.
Thank you all! Will try to get some pics up tomorrow. Got one of those jebo tanks. I think they look very nice :smile1:. second hand and got some live filter media to start things up..
thanx all! I've attached some poor cellphone pics.. anyone know exactly what the flow rate of the pumps in these tanks are? seems like the 1.2m jebo tanks have 900l/h pumps. is this accurate?
