    Hi there

My name is Rudi and I have always been fascinated by aquariums. Had a few aquariums in the day, but only recently started again. I now have 2 freshwater tropical aquariums running. 1 for about a month and a half, and the other has been running for 3 months.
I live in the West Rand.

Both of my tanks are planted, so all the plants you see are live. I simply detest plastic plants.
My first tank consists of the following: 150 Liter tank, 2 T5 18 watt lights and 2 20 watt energy saving lights. I am running a Dophin C500 canister filter. Fish include 40 Neon tetras, 20 Black neons, 20 glow light tetras, a few guppies and 2 algae eaters. I really don’t know the names of the plants I have.

The second tank consists of the following: 300 Liter tank with 4 T8’s. I am running a Atman 2 series internal filter. Don’t have a lot of fish in there yet. Only 3 Algae eaters and 1 fighter. The tank is also dirted, capped with black substrate. I am still deciding what fist to get for this tank.

So far I have found the page quite helpful.

    Regards

    Hello Rudi!

A warm welcome to TASA - you'll soon see that we mostly prefer our real plants, so you're in good company! If you want to id your plants, then post close-ups and someone will try and help.

Hi Rudi. Welcome to TASA :) Looks like your plants are thriving. What fertilisers do you use?

Hi there Jenn. I use Bio Elite plant growth. One drop per 38 litres, once a week after a water change. Thank you all for the warm welcome and all the compliments.

I am currently struggeling with the large dirted tank, The water goes cloudy very fast, even after a 80% water change. I only have 3 algi eaters and a fighter in there for now, but want to populate the tank soon. Any ideas?
