    Hi All

Just came to say Hi :) Ive always read the post's on the forum but never registered till last week :)

I have had tropical aquariums since I was 11 years old and still cant get enough, think I am a fish addict hahaha

At the moment I have started a Malawi tank again but it is like a smartie box... mixed with Mbuna and non-Mbuna, all in a 4ft tank.
I am busy building a 600L tank for my Haps and Peacocks and then I have my Malawi cichlids left in the 4ft :)

Now I have 2 choices on filtration for the 600L.... Sump or Canister?

    Any Ideas?

    Regards

    Hello and welcome to TASA.

Please update your location in your profile and post some pics of your tank(we love pics) :)

Sump would work better if you have the space and the knowledge, also easier to clean and maintain (.Cannister is more compact but they need regular maintenance and some spare parts in case they break down.

Cul thanks :) My first choice was the sump cause I have a Canister on the 4ft that works well until I have to do cleaning :-(

I have made a sump for my SW tank that I've had previously, will the same build work for FW?

Attached is a picture of what I have had in mind... It is working similar to the Bio filters for ponds....

I will post pics of my tank bit later... need to download them from my phone

I think freshwater sumps work a bit differently.Take a look here:
    Error 403 (Forbidden)!!1

See what they have in common?
