    Hi All

My name is Tiaan from East London been on the forum for a while now. I currently have a small basic 30l setup running for about 2 months now. I am in the process of getting a 1,8m x 60cm x 60cm 10mm glass tank with lid, but lid not worth anything. The guy wants R1000 for it. Its in relatively good shape in terms of scratches and no chips or cracks. My question is, is it worth it?

I am also wanting to go the diy route for stand, canopy and possibly filter. I was thinking sump or canister filter, not sure yet.

    Inmates are:

    6 x Spotted Danio's
    1 x Dwarf Gourami
    1 x Rainbow shark

Any comments or advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    @Ryno, there you go.

By the way, that is very thin for such a big tank, that would be good for a 5ft braced tank. Does it have lots of bracing??

Its a good deal but not sure about the glass.

1m is fine for an 6ft tank. just needs bracing o the top and bottom with cross braces at the top. my 2,4m (8ft) is 12mm glass

Thanks Ryno and FishLover for the comments. Yes there is bracing at the top and bottom with cross braces at the top. Hope it holds. Will test thoroughly before it goes anywhere near the living room. Don't want all that water on the floor.

It's going to take time and hard work to get the tank ready but I am super keen.

Welcome Tiaan, congrats on the tank sounds like a good deal. Where did you find spotted danio's, I've never seen them in the trade, or are you referring to the leopard danio ?

Thanks all for the welcome. My apologies it is leopard danio's.

Its not raining today so hopefully all goes well with collecting the tank. My mind is racing with possible stand and canopy options.

Will start a new thread soon to show start and progress.

    Congrats.
Can replace the base with new polystyrene, can be stuck with normal white glue.
Use some vinegar to clear buildup, then was with warm water and soap and a good rinse x 2.

    Enjoy, always fun.
