Hi Oscar, What do you feed them, they are BIG!! It must cost you an arm an a leg to keep them happy.
mattie i feed them a mixture of pellets, earthworms, crickets, geckos and whatever little bugs are in season at the time and now and again red meat to the ones that eat it cause sum are fussy eaters
arowana ppl please if you could PM me with whatever details you have of the petstores selling arowana plz
They're great fish, just make sure your aquarium cover is adequate (and your tank looks big but these guys get to 1.2m, I need to get a bigger tank for mine sometime). I've had problems keeping my arowana with fish with any kind of terriorial nature, so just think about who it would be living with.
I saw your Oscars, I just wonder how they would view another fish in there. He's quite happy because he has no-one else to claim the upper parts of the tank since all of his tankmates are catfish of various types. I think I can still get some growth out of him with the good filtration I currently have and weekly 20% water changes. I feed him bloodworms, floating and sinking pellets (he just happens to get what the other fish like too), lance fish, feeder fish now and then, the odd insect I catch (great to watch him hunt cockroaches as they run across the surface), and cooked fish from time to time.
Saw a documentary on feeding the other day and they showed a aro jumping 2m high to catch a bug on the end of a tree branch.
