    Hey all,
Am really excited to have joined your forum. I am a complete newby. Have been keeping goldfish for the past year and about two months ago I got a new 3 ft which i put the goldfish in as they were getting too big for my wee 30 litre and I have now got black widows, platies and siamese fighters in the smaller tank. Was nervous about trying out new fish I knew nothing about but they are all getting on great and are really fun to watch. Am pleased also that I rescued the male fighter from one of those cruel jars at th pet store- he seems very pleased with his new aquarium :)

Port Elizabeth seems very limited in the types of plants available and I havnt been able to find any short foreground plants to put in my tank, or any mosses. I would really appreciate any advice on where I can obtain these if anyone knows.

We certainly need more girls in the hobby. Welcome to Tasa! Foreground plants can be difficult to find or expensive if you do find it sometimes, but with alot of patience you might find something. You may also put in a request for the sponsors to source the plants you're looking for. Anyway enjoy your stay..

    @ Gilbert: Why me?

Anyway, welcome to TASA you should also join the regional group on this forum. http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/group.php?groupid=4

And I would not advise any plants in a goldfish tank. Flake food is cheaper. :)

From all the forum banter, we can come to the following conclusion.

    PE + plants = Laure :)

Well OK if you say so and the sad part is I don't buy any of my plants in PE. But at least I have some contacts across the country and can help out in that way.

    Hey
To all- Thanks for the advice and nice to meet u all

Laure - According to everyone you seem to be the PE person to go to:p
hehehe yes that is true goldfish and plants can be difficult, but mine actually do behave themselves where plant demolition is concerned, except for my new Lionhead, she is a bit of a monster  I love watching them root around and explore.

I am desperate to learn about any good foreground plants for the tank and I'm keen on trying some mosses- I love a really densely planted tank and am extremely keen to get mine going. Have been looking up sum sites on aquascaping and they really blew my mind. Will put up sum pics of my tanks as soon as I can. Bearing in mind that I am a beginner.

I can help I often have some cuttings available. Nothing right now, but keep your eye on my tank thread http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showthread.php?t=1300

I can't help you with moss I have a little bit but not enough to distribute. Other foreground plants depends on your setup. Grass-type plants are fairly easy. The classic types like Glossostigma elatinoides and Hemianthus callitrichoides won't do well without CO2 injection. Mini swords are probably a good bet if you like that type of look. Do some research, decide what look you like and post on the forum then I or the other members can tell you if it will work in your setup.

    Regards
    Lauré
