When I started this hobby - I was sooo wanting to get into aquaponics, but that did not go as planned.

Today I took my first step - 3 herb containers.

    They will have several purposes:

    1) To cast a shadow over part of the propagation tank - not sure how wel ths will work.
    2) The herbs will be watered with fish water.
    3) I will eat the herbs / not the fish :p

So the question - if I am running a clean tank, i.e no meds, algea stuff, gul or other CO2 substitute, will the herbs be OK for human consumption?

Then another - any herbs I can plant that will be beneficial to the fish? Other than culinary ...

Anybody know about a wicking method to water theses terracotta pots?

sure they will be, why not? We eat a LOT of food fertilised with animal waste... and it's not always as clean.

I've squinted, but can't make out what you've got, herbwise... if you want to list or post close ups, I might be able to help a bit more... right now, there are a LOT of plants in a v small space?

now off to googleland, wonder if there are herbs beneficial to fish???

Yeah - the 3 pots are the demo version, the plan - if I do not kill these, would be to move the "trees" to the garden and then use the rest of the herbs to make a bigger plant bed that auto waters from my WC (this will force me to do more wc).

Ideally I would want to do 2x 1x1 meter herb boxes - or maybe a herb terrace time will tell, but I do want to use the WC dumps.
