    Thanks for this post

I've got 1 of those, can't seem to get a pic of it as it only comes out when its dark.
The guy at the pet shop who sold it to me insisted it is a Malawi catfish, I still have my doubts, can't wait till some1 ids your fish

It is very possible it is a hybrid - a lot of species are hybridised with S. eupterus, which seems like the case here.

SA, Googled the Eupterus and that now looks more like what I have. Only difference is that mine doesn't have so many (bright) spots on his body

Like I said, it is more than likely a hybrid species, so some charactetistics of S. eupterus may have been lost in favour of the other parent's characteristics.

i personally dont think its a S. Eureptus as the dorsal fin is a little too short. the common name for this fish is featherfin synodontis. that dorsal fin doesnt look like any of my S. Eureptus that i have kept. keep checking out the various pics on the web. a lot of fish pics on the web dont look exactly like one another or look like the 1 you have in your tank.
