    Morning!

    I would greatly appreciate some help.

    This morning after doing a water change I was watching the fish (nose plastered to the tank) and noticed this hair thin white wormy thing wriggling about in the water. :notrust:

    I don't feel comfortable with wormy things wriggling in my tank, but have no idea what it is or what to do about it.

    Please help!

    Nothing to worry about - your fish will eat them all - mine did and I had hundreds of the little buggers in my water column. They are difficult to see sometimes because they are so small and thin. @Altum told me what they were - cannot remember the name now - but he said also not to worry. It is also a good sign that your tank is well balanced I seem to remember.

    Does it look something like this?

    This is Hydra and fish will eat.

    Hi Derik,

    No, they don't have the tails. I only noticed two against the glass and then one of them burrowed into the gravel and the other one wriggled over to one of the drift woods.

    They are really hair thin and about half a cm ...I didn't even attempt to take a photo. I doubt my camera will even pick them up. I wouldn't have noticed them had my nose not been practically plastered to the tank.

    Try and take a pic,harmless unless they overrun the tank.

    Still harmless but they can clog a fishes gils if there are too many.

    Just spoke to @Altum and he reminded me - they are Acquatic Nematodes also know as threadworms - completely harmless and will not affect your fish !!!

    @eros111

    Thanx a mil!

    My tank is finally stabilizing after all my trials and errors and when I saw those this morning I almost had a heart attack! Will go and read up on them.
