I have a pair of firemouth in a 3foot tank. They fight all the time and last night I saw the male hiding behind the filter and the female swimming around. Do anyone maybe know why they behave like that??

I also have a pair of brichardi in a 3foot tank. They have bred and the babies are almost two months old. I see that the one (male?) attacks the other one (female?). is it because he wants to breed again? I saw this behaviour my kribensis. I removed the kribensis male for a month, condition the female and then put the male back, do a water change and feed them bloodworms and they breed.

    Thanks

    Nick

For the firemouths, make sure they both have enough caves to hide in and maybe move some of the decor around if you already have in the tank. Unfortunately they probably require bigger individual territories and only have one outlet of aggression, namely each other. It could be sizing each other up for spawning, but if one is hiding away they are a bit mismatched. Where they introduced together or one some time after the other? Also, do you want them to breed?

With the brichardis, you should probably separate them again especially if the female does not seem inclined to breed, and do what you did with the kribs.
