    Good day all at TASA

I am a new member of TASA but not new to the hobby.

I am seeking some advice on breeding angles.
I have 3 breeding pairs all had some fry in old setup .
Old setup consisted of a 2foot tank for 1 pair and a split 3foot for the other 2 pairs. Both tanks had HOB filters.

Upgraded to 3 split 3foot tanks with a 3 foot sump.
After introduction to new tanks had lots of sponing from all 3 pairs .
But i strugle to keep the fry alive.
Feed them micro worns if thy are free swimming.
Do water changes every day but fry keep diing. :(
Dead fry have a mold or fungis on them .

    Hi Cas

Are the parents raising the fry or are you pulling the eggs and hand raising?

Personally I find that newly hatched baby brine shrimp works better as a food source as well as the Hikari Tropical First Bites if you happen to run out of brine shrimp.

Do you have gravel at the bottom of your tank? generally when the fry die a fungus grows on the fry and the fry will also swell.

Are you managing to save any of the fry in a batch?

Angels are quite easy to breed once you get the hang of it.
Sounds like a water quality issue.
When you do a water change do you remove all the uneaten food and waste?

Wipe your glass and keep any sponges clean, no white or brown stuff must be on them. When you do wcs on very small fry ensure you are putting water back that is similar to the tank water.

Michell. I take the fry away if they are wiglers.

I use dare bottom tanks easier to keep clean.

I will try to start a brine shrimp hatchery.

Redfish. I take out all uneaten food that i can see.

Boerboel. I use alpha from aquavitro to condition the water for all my tanks. I'll let the conditioned water stand for a day to get it to room temperature, before I add it to my tanks.

You seems to be doing everything right, try leaving a spawn with the parents for a week or two to see if it isn't the move that's causing your problems. You could also try to match the water temp but it's so hot right now that I doubt it's that. I see there's a filter sock, try rinsing that out everyday, any place that can trap detritus is a place that will harbor bacteria and fungus. Another thing that will help is to run an air stone in the water you are aging to stabilize the ph. Fry don't react well to ph fluctuations. Aerate it well so that all the stuff they use to up the ph gets gassed out.

how long has the new set been runing?
sound a lot like water quality issue, but does not make sense based on your cleaning and water changes your talking about.
agreed with advice given leaving fry with parents for longer, air-rating new water for a day before, and cleaning often of filter socks and sponge filter.
feeding fry is always a bad for water quility, tones of small particles of food and waste that is normally to small to vacuum up or see, you may be over feeding the fry cause rise in amonian and nitrate being root of problem.
good luck and hope next batch goes along smoother

Frequent but small feeds is better than seldom larger ones.

Try a fry/hatching jar. I use it all the time and NEVER get fungus. I also NEVER use chemicals like meth-blue.

I am having a bit of trouble finding bulk brine shrimp eggs. I usually buy it in a 750g tin. Does anyone know where I can buy this?
