    Hallo!

I was in the fortunate position to save 4 Cory eggs in my community tank this morning.

You won't believe how fast my female Bettas are on those eggs!

I don't have a separate thank that I can raise them in and need some help and advise as to how to go about doing it in a community tank. Will a breeding net do the trick?

Also, anyone in Pretoria East area with Microworms for me? I gave my culture away after the death of my last Scarlet Badis.

    All and any advise welcome.

    Agreed.
Although not ideal the guppy breeding hatchery will work in an emergency.

    Holding thumbs.
Mine have spawned a few times, and I have removed eggs, but never managed to get them to hatch / develop further.

Put the eggs in a breeder net. Make sure there is a moderate flow of water flowing through the net. I did it by aiming the nozzle of the internal filter directly at the net.
Eggs become darker then hatch. It will look like there is nothing in the net but the fry are there. Just wait a couple of days and then you will see them. I then fed them with a tiny amount of flake food that I made sink to the bottom. Just a tiny amount at first. The fry then grow really fast. Keep the net bottom clean by siphoning out the waste with a turkey baster.
That is how I raised the panda and sterbai cory fry and it worked very well.

Hi all. Just an update - 3 of the 4 eggs hatched successfully. One of my hatch-lings went missing a few days later :( The remaining two are coming along very well. :) Thanx for all the help and support.

    Hi Everyone!

Would just like to confirm when I can release these two into the main tank.

The tank is 45cm high. They won't be eaten anymore, but I'm not sure if they will be able to swim the distance to the top.

    Thank you very much!

    xx

@DoubleDutch - That is beautiful! Congratulations! I should really set up a species tank!

When can I release mine into the main tank? It's a community tank, they're too big for the other fish to eat now, but the tank is 45cm high. Will they be able to make it to the surface?

Just a little update - my two little fry grew up beautifully. Turned out to be a male and female! What luck!

And then a wonderful surprise this morning - I spotted a new little one swimming around! A winner that one, surviving in a community tank!

Question: Will a water change affect the hatching of my eggs?

Managed to rescue another 6 eggs.

My eggs hatched successfully! Feel like a very proud mom. Another 3 hatched inside the tank itself, hoping they will survive.

Question: If i put the fry in a 15 liter tank with one of those small heaters, will the heat be sufficient for cory's?

I've kept shirmp, scarlet badis, betta, and treadfin rainbows with the small heater before, but not sure if the heat will be enough for the corys.
