I currently have fish which are either too big or will soon be too big for my 80L tank. I purchased my tank last month and the pet store assured me that the fish will not outgrow my tank. Since joining the forum, I have discovered that this is a lie. Anyway, my initial plan was to purchase a bigger tank but being a student, this was not a financially sound option.

I am looking to sell/swap these larger fish which include:

    • 1xBlack Ghostknife (15cm)
    • 2xBala Sharks (5-6cm)
    • 1xcatfish of some sorts (8cm)
I am not sure what catfish it is although from pictures I have seen he looks a lot like a Featherfin Squeaker (Synodontis eupterus).

I am trying to take some photos but it is proving to be more difficult than I thought. (They all come out blurry)

Once I have found a home for the above fish I would like to add a pair of dwarf gourami and some schooling fish. Other fish in my tank include 1 pleco, swordtail pair, and a guppy pair.

I am looking for advice on how to sell/swap these fish or if anyone on the forum would like these fish. I would also like suggestions or advice on what fish to get. I am looking to have a colorful tank with some interesting fish.

    Thanks

    Hey Armit

It might help you to post on the classifieds section, where people will know that you have these fish avaliable. Alternatively, you could try and return the fish to the petstore and get credit on them.

As for what fish you could put in there, you could try out several schools of smaller schooling tetras, such as Red Phantoms, Neon Tetras, Lemon Tetras and Head and Tail Light tetras. They all stay small, will eat regular aquarium foods, are hardy and colourful, and will get on with each other. As a plus, most pet stores keep stock of these most of the time because they're quite popular.

    Hey Salmon

I tried to post this in the classified section but since im fairly new to the site i have not worked up mt 20posts, so i don't think i can use that section yet.

I purchased these fish from a pet store which is quite far out since I was under the impression this was the best store. Seeing as I don't have a car it is quite difficult to get back there. it has also been well over a month. Don't actually know if they will even remember me.

That could be a problem... if that's the case, please go into your user control panel (top left of the screen) and edit your details so people can see what region you're from (just what city you're in will help). From there, you can ask people to private message you if they're interested in buying the fish from you.

Hi Amit you might also want to get rid of the pleco as they grow pretty large themselves.
If I may I would suggest 10 neon tetras,10 rummy nose tetras. I have a school of about 30 of these and they look
4tunning together in a tank. You just need to make sure your water is top quility.

    Hope you get a buyer.

    Hey Vis

The pleco is still very small and was one of the first fish i got. I think it might be a dwarf and was hoping you guys could identify him once i get pictures. But if he is not I will have to get rid of him.

Also some plants would finish your tank off nicely.

    Hey Slojo.

Ive been trying some plants. Dont know all the names. Can you suggest some that my swords won't eat and that require low light. I have a 15W globe.

Anubias are good for that. They don't get eaten, survive in low light and I think look quite good. You can do a google image search to see what they look like.

Just a warning, they shouldn't be put in the substrate as the roots will rot, you can attach them with thread or nylon to a piece of bogwood or a stone.

    Hey guys

Thanks for the info. I havn't gotten any response about my fish. What would be my best options since I definitely cannot keep the fish in this tank for more than about 2 months if they keep growing at this rate.

Some LPS stores may be willing to take them from you. Because they are grown a bit, they will make more money off of them.. but they definately will not give you the best price for them. They might just give you credit for you to use in the store.

Wish i could help. you could try selling the fish on gumtree but the only one that will get anybodys attention is the ghost knife cause of its size (15cm). The bala sharks are realy very small and woundnt have a desired effect in bigger tank as of yet. Mayb hang on to them until they reach a popular size then its easier to get rid of. try the catfish on gumtree to....

Let me know if this helped

Would the Bala Shark in a small tank not be subjested to stunted growth?
