HELP - Is something wrong with my Corydoras

Hi guys today my peppered corries started spawning here are some pics im just really worried about the female she has been hiding from the males i think she is exhausted she is now lying on her back on one of my amazon swords i dont know if this is normal behaviour she also has a large bulge under her belly the bulge is part of the fish and not loose eggs. is this bulge where the eggs are stored pre-fertilised eggs or is SOMETHING WRONG. Please help guys im really worried she is on her back breathing slowly on the leaf at the moment i have included pics of her bulge - she is now being chased by the males again there are 3 peppered corydoras

 

Pls guys does no one have an idea what's going on that little bulge looks like its going to pop is this normal wen spawning?

 

I have not heard of this before .

I would seperate the females immediately or beter yet move the males to prevent further stress to the female .

how long has she been this way ?
did she lay eggs before the bulge appeared ?

They started spawing this morning but I don't see eggs anywhere in the tank they have made the t connection many times and she is hiding at the moment ill remove her immediately I think the bulge is the eggs that aren't going anywhere I'm so worried I have no idea what to do thanks for the help and keep me posted on any ideas of what it might be. They started this morning and this appeared shortly after they started with the t connection but it has grown a lot larger since tis morning thanks

Ok I moved her just before she got into the net the bulge of eggs released into the tank there is now a ball of eggs stuck to the glass I moved her she is looking a lot more relaxed there is a tiny blod spot we're the bulge was but she is looking good

She is lying very still the breathing looks normal hope she recovers fully and that nothing happens to her

 

When will you move her back to the main tank and are you going to raise the fry?

 

No idea ill give her a few days to recover to be honest I don't even know if the eggs are fertilised. If they survive in the community tank then it will be survival of the fitest for the fry

 

I hope she recovers quickly!

 

Maybe the fish in question is egg bound? Going out on a limb here...

 

10i, I wanted to say the same - it do look like egg bound, but I know this is more common in birds! If it is egg bound, then it will be the first to hear about it on a forum, for me.
I do remember that I had to surgically remove fry from a Sailfin molly years ago, with a Vet-friend in assistance. Normally a bump up in watertemp could help!

I think u guys are right, the fish appeared to be egg bound. I looked at my handbook of tropical aquarium fishes and that's when my worries started, as I saw from the pics she was not spreading the eggs. The problem is I think she might have got a fright when I caught her in the net and released, which I hope is the case and not popped the eggs out. She is now relaxing in a tank away from the males swimming around every now and then and breathing looks normal, tiny little red spot, where the bulge used to be. Ill up the temp. Any other ideas what I should do? Thanks for all the help guys.

 

Could you please post a close up pic of the bulge area?

NB: in situations like this you never move the distressed or injured fish but rather the bully as the stress caused from the move alone never mind adjusting to new water can be a bigger problem leading to the fish dying.

 

ok ill remember rather not to remove the injured fish, but she was moved last nite and on the move released the eggs here are close up pics of the bulge

I cant take a photo like that now as she has released the eggs and there is no more bulge

 

How is she doing?

 

She is looking alot better still just moving around slowly but she doesnt look bad ill leave her till she fully recovers

 

Ok she looks happy now she has returned to her old self she is zooming around the tank like she used to ill leave her in the tank for atleast a week before she is moved to the com tank again thanks everyone. Just a question is it once an egg bound fish always an egg bound fish will this happen next spawn or is it not likely to occur again
