    Hello
I am very new, After having my fish tank empty for a while, I've finally decided to refill it, but this time I'm doing something new: research! I'm still debating whether to get freshwater or saltwater fish. A marine system would be lovely, but I am aware that it will be more expensive and labor-intensive than a freshwater arrangement, so for the time being, I am happy with the freshwater option. But I'm still waiting to see if anyone can persuade me otherwise. In terms of freshwater fish, first and foremost, do you have any suggestions for a great group of fish to put in the tank? It's a medium-sized tank. I'm looking for brightly coloured fish that are simple to keep. as well as some other creatures that can assist in keeping the aquarium clean (eg snails etc). Finally, I'm going for an ancient Roman/Atlantis theme; are there any good stores where I can get decorations? And do you have any ideas for covering the back glass pane with a black background?
    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to the forum!
Regarding stocking ideas, can you give approximate tank dimensions? That will help a lot as "medium size" varies a lot from person to person.

    Welcome!
The roman/Atlantis theme sounds real cool. As for stores, I don't know where you stay so can't help there, unless you go online - mcmerwe, rebel pets are 2 I'd recommend.
As @HugBug says, stocking of fish we can help after tank size, cause medium to me is a 30l, while for others medium might be a 4ft tank

Marine aquariums are far more complex than freshwater and require the correct equipment to be successful in my opinion.

Freshwater would be far less costly and just as rewarding.
