Im so glad to find n site that share the same interest in tropical aquariums as I. Im still young and hope to learn plenty from the older guys. I had a few tanks for about 4years and unfortuanatly had to give it all up, I missed that, now n bought myself a 4ft tank. Any suggestions? I really want to have a few discus in my tank. Please help me setup my tank for ideal conditions. I hear that water chemistry and quality should be perfect if you want to keep them for a long period of time. Oh yes, I had a tyre track eel that I fed out of my hand and I really want one again, will the eel clash with the discus?

Hope to make friends with you all:smile1:

    Thanks

    Welcome to TASA!

I don't have any experience with the above fish, so I'll leave it to the older 'older' guys. :p
Here's a fail video of the eel with a discus... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8iy771rikI

What other fish did you have before?

Hello and Welcome to the wet nut house. We hope you enjoy your time here with us, and don't worry, there are plenty of people that can help you out. You might want to do a search through Prof Dirk Bellstadt's threads, he is the real fundi on discus on here.

Welcome @Vissie....Since @Skye01 stole my usual welcome,I wont welcome you to the wet nut house...lol

I'd say skip the eel mate - it will not like the high temps we keep Discus at.... What literage is your 4footer? - 6 or so Discus in there will work very well...

    Hi azurekoi,

Thanks for the advice, maybe I should get a seperate tank just for the eel. I was thinking maybe 4 discus, keeping in mind that they would grow bigger, and shoal of neons. That would look very nice I think
