Well, I just had to share this....

I was adding some water to one of my breeding cubes which is currently growing out some Apistogramma Red Gold fry, and after adding around 20L I looked at the thermometer in the tank.... It read 12'C!!

I was shocked to say the least!! So I quickly grabbed a spare heater and chucked it into the tank.... I feared that I had just chilled and killed my entire brood, but I held out in hope that they would be ok!!!

After one hour my thermometer read 14'C! So I thought this is not good and prepared myself for the worst!!

About 3 hours later the thermometer still read 14'C, so I placed the back of my hand on the glass, which felt pretty warm! Infact it felt the same as the breeding cube next to it at 24'C!!

I decided to get hold of a spare Thermometer and test the Tank!!

Guess what it read.... 25'C! The original Thermometer is still reading at 14!!

    Imagine my relief!!

Anyhowz, maybe we could make this into a thread where we can all share our 'Heart Stopping Moments' in the hobby??

Feel free to carry this thread on!!

    Regards
    Big G!

That must have made you run around like hell, even with your bad foot!

Luckily it is was all ok.
Guess you had to have another cuppa after that! LOL

Indeed! Thankfully I didn't have to run much as all the stuff I needed was in the cupboard next to the tanks!! Phew!!

Was busy with some aquascaping a few weeks ago when our curious cat decided to take a dive into the aquarium, would not have been so bad but the fact that we powdered the cat the morning for his skin condition made me worried as I didnt know what effect it would have on my fish so I quickly did a 50% waterchange and moved the discus to my quarantine tank...I have never felt so concerned in my life, weird how people get attached to their fishy friends.

Troy are you referring to the breeding setup or the community tank?

    The breeding setup : 45cm(l) x 30(h) x 30(w)
    The Community tank: 2m(L) x 0.6m(h) x 0.8m(w)

Yeah the one in the pic.

Did your cat jump in the breeding tank? If so how small is your cat?

Troy the cat jumped into the community tank which is 2m in length which only housed my Discus at that time so I moved them to the quarantine tank. The picture above is the discus in the breeding tank...I know if is a fairly small set up but it works for me :)
