Update on HalfMoon Purple Salamanders

Most turned out purple, and colour is showing nicely, some even turned out pink, but mostly the males. Unfortunately this spawn is about 80% Females.

They are now over 2 months old, and their egg spot is showing, sorry about the last pic...haha downloaded the wrong one!

I experienced the exact same thing with my Purple Salamander HM's. Exact same thing. I'm left with only two males, one very stunning Purple/Pink perfect as can be HM, and one Cellophane with a blue tinge and the white edge on the fins tipical to Salamanders.

 

I have odd 10 females left that looks just like the parents.

 

@Charles I have about 80+ of them and they should all survive....funny the pink colour although its nice, and I wouldnt mind breeding the pink, to get some more fry like that. If i shine a torch on the others, they have the light purple to them, same as the father, although mother was a yellow female, there is no sighn of the yellow what so ever, and the salamander was dominant, its obvious that he is a true bread!

 

I love that green one in the spawn. Nice fish. Just a pity you are in JHB

 

@Rooivlerkie that fish, that looks like green is actually from my previous spawn, HM Copper x Black Orchird Crown tail, the BO crown has a turquose in his tail as all BO crowns have, and because of the copper, some of the fry came out as turqiouse coppers, unfortunately I lost that batch of fry....:cry: because of a ph problem, he is one of 4 survivors, but the only 1 with that colour.

 

they are beautiful! congrats. it makes me think of icecream colours - the pink and blue

Are you going to spawn with
the green one?

 

@Rooivlerkie I will not be breeding him.as he is a super.delta and not HM. @Charles haha yes def no bread in my tanks...and will not cross the f2 gen with another color, to try and keep the pink.

 

So an update on the HM pink salamanders, they are looking superb, thanks to @arcky that babysitted them while I was on leave he did a brilliant job. I also have some males and females for sale, pm me for pricing.
