Halfbeaks

hey all

myself and @hein24 had a bit of a shop today, and i got myself some (2) Halfbeaks. They looks super cool, and the LPS said they eat live foods AND flakes, is this true? anything one needs to know about them? as i see my Book says, they do eat live foods mainly, and they breed every 8 weeks, but nothing more.

So if anyone knows anything regarding them, please let me know.

found this site on the halfbeaks, according to this there's 3 different genus and they seem to require different conditions.. http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=2789

 

Need to confirm the species. Most likely Celebes Halfbeak or Wrestling halfbeak, one preferring freshwater, the other preferring brackish water.

I'm curious, though... why did you buy fish that you had no idea about keeping?

 

Well, one of they dudes on APSA had a few of them, and we got talking, and i never saw any in any LPS, and then i saw them today, and according to him, they are fine in his community tank, and i like to try something new, as i know i can always ask TASA for info.

Ja i know that its not always the best way to do things, but i like to try anything.

 

Thanks reaper, nice one!, i dont think they can be THAT BIG of a prob to keep them, as i see mine are fine, not hiding, and i have seen them chow the Flake food.
