My tank has 1 males and 4 females. They all were introduced to eachother on the same night and presumably impregnated on the same night aswell, thats all fine but 3 of my females gave birth mid last week and the guppy fry are coming along well, however one guppy has not dropped yet and i noticed her gravid spot has recently turned red, it did use to be dark. She definatley was/is pregnant as you can see the difference in her size in comparison to the others.

She is swimming and eating fine, she isnt hovering near the surface or bottom or sitting next to the heater or anything to indicate she has a problem. Do you think she is just taking her time to drop her fry? Can anyone suggest anything i can do to help or do you think she has a problem? Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

female deaths at birth aren't uncommon, you could try and help her release her fry but she might die in the process.

It might also be a bacterial infection...

If the female is an albino guppy then her gravid spot will be red and not black. Females that have grey bodies will have black spots and females with yellow or pale bodies will have red gravid spots.
I would definitely not try to help her drop the babies as you could end up killing her.

Just let her be and she should drop when she is ready.

Some females do die before they can drop so this can also happen but rather let nature take its cause and what will be will be.

Not sure if they are all the same size. It might be that she had fewer eggs fertilised and therefore she will be able to carry longer before giving birth/dropping fry. Since this is the first time I would not worry to much. When reading on the internet you will see they can take from 25 days up to 50 days before dropping fry.
Keep feeding her and just watch her for no, but will not fiddle to much.
