    hi guys

normally when we post its normally just when something goes wrong.

Well, today i just want to share something with you.

on the 1st of January i got some fry, then soon after the mom died.

Was getting so bad, that i only had 1 adult male left, and about 30+ fry.

Then i got 20 more fry from a pet shop guppy then she also died.

Meenwhile the 1st batch that was born on the 1st of January started dropping fry now.

so strictly speaking, this is my 2nd generation of my own bred guppies.

i think i will be ok now, guppy wise.

The spotted tail is my second generation. The dad died cause my tank had a parasite or something. I hope he survives. uploadfromtaptalk1460611834495.jpg

    really looking good @pinkkiwi1230

i will post some pics of mine just now.

have to do a quick water change on my convict tank and do 1 or 2 things.

i realised your own guppies are as tough as nails, but the pet shop guppies are very ill and parasetic fish, its actually shocking.

but ja,it seems as if when you got your own bloodline going then you will be okay... but i will try and get a new male in every 6 months or so

Yeah I bought some neon tetras from petco and it killed half of everything in my tank... I didn't put them in my quarantine first and they infected everything. After this I've had no desire to buy anymore from there. Seems like half of what I get dies. So far the Walmart fish have had a higher survival rate lol.

Once you have fry born and raised in your own tanks you should be fine. We'll fine if you like lots of guppies :)

I have 20+ healthy fry by accident. Got a few guppy fry in Jan to cycle a new tank. In march i sent them to a friend who is keeping minnows and guppies in a pond. One female was MIA the day i caught them. Next morning i caught her and placed her in a split tank with Alan the Betta. That night she dropped fry. The fry knows very well on which side of the screen its safe. They will swim into Alans side, pick food and dash back to their side. Seriously cute but i never planned on breeding anything. ...Might advertise some guppy soon. Lol

Yes it's best to get some bred by a friend etc. I too struggle to keep the petshop ones alive for long.

Yea I'm in the states and no local breeders where I live. I've tried posting in Facebook that I was looking and the only person breeding had cichlids

I agree Vis. Last time i had a tank was 25 years ago. Guppy were tough as ever. My 2 pet store guppy in Jan died first week. Got my fry from a friend who has a green tank in a room where he keeps orchids, ferns and other plants that need the humidity. Tough little buggers. Hope they are all black like the parents. Really beautiful. I dont know much about guppy genetics though....
My other friend bought endler at pet stop. They look healthier though.
