So I posted this fish on another tread but this is very interesting. How my blue guppy started and another gene some how was introduced in the aquarium-Maybe long ago Mermaid.jpg As some of you may remember I lost tons of guppies, I only kept 3 males. one above and the next 2 DSCF0346.jpg 2de.jpg and I think I kept 2 females. So this is what came next---- DSCF0884.jpg And a few inbetweeners after----And FINALLY my best fish ever DSCF5175.jpg

    Hello

There are some articles written on this guppy colour type by Philip Shaddoc from http://www.guppydesigner.com , I think it is referred to as wild type, but will read up on it and let you know, I have all three his books somewhere

He is, has X chromosome gene, new to all this, might check what will happen if I breed him with a blonde female with blue tail. DSCF5383.jpg So this is what one guy said "she has two X chromosomes giving her this tail shape and colour - generally speaking. the chromosomes can be identical - coding the same traits, or they can be different - giving such combined effect.
your male has one X chromosome giving him his tail shape and colour. when you do the cross - their sons will receive X chromosomes from their mother - nothing from their father in terms of the tail. " Not sure still whats gonna come out from these 2.

Yip, I bought the books from him. Some things are way too scientific for my liking, if people start with all that scientific mumbo jumbo , I loose interest
Will read up on it some time

Personally I think this is a young male, gonopodium still to develop. I dont see a gravid spot at all, and Japanese blue in the body is y-linked
