    Hi guys

I have a guppy tank, with 2 nets with fry. Every day a couple of babies are dead in the morning.....

It seems their bellies turn white before they die.

I feed them crushed flake food. The water in the tank seem fine, as it is not a big die-off, just a couple every day....

I do regular waterchanges and my water parameters seems ok according to the test strips I use....

    Any help would be appreciated!!!

    How old are they?
Do you have any floating plants with the babies?
The eat tiny critters that hides in plants and algea.
Green water is unsightly but also very good for them

They are in the breeding trap nets, so no access to the plants, where the parents will just gobble them up.....

    They are varying ages.

I think must get an infusoria (hope that is spelt correctly) culture going.

look for some floating plants to put in the nets.
Infusoria is excellent for small fish.
    All the best

I don't have much experience with gups... but when I want to raise some swordies, I put a chunk of java moss into their net. Also, maybe it helps - once observed a batch of fry almost die when their enclosure got grubby - so, now, I siphon their waste out with air tubing every few days. HTH!

Agree with TracyP. Fry need very clean conditions. I take the fry out every second day, remove the net and rinse it thoroughly before putting everything back together into the tank. The java moss is also a great source of food. Also, although crushed flakes are okay, the best food for them is freshly hatched brine shrimp.

Irma,im not so sure,i heard brime shrimp is bad for very young fry, ? My fry is in a tank with one small floating plant and noting else, about 50 in a 60L tank with only a earthstone and corner filter, dont the net stress the fry maybe? i dont know,i dont like those nets stuff

I feed the fry with freshly hatched brine shrimp from day one. The main thing is not to include the shells when you feed as this can cause constipation. The fry excel on this food source. The net is quite big so it does not stress them out. I only keep them in there for about a month before releasing them into the main tank.

Thanks for all the inputs. I'll add java moss and also clean the net more often. Currently doing it once a week.
