    Hey.

I got this idea and i would like to know if it could work...
I saw plastic mesh at the hardware store today with openings that are about 3mm x 3mm. Then i got the idea of putting a layer of this at the bottom of my tank about 5cm above the gravel. Would this work to protect guppy fry and danio eggs from the hugry parrents???

A bit...but what happens when the fry swim out and into a hungry parents mouth? Stick to the way we have done it for decades - dedicated breeding tanks and fry raising tanks - otherwise you will lose fry....

Ok. I have a tank for the guppy fry i want to keep. but the danios i got yesterday spawned in my tank... and i don't really know what to do since i dont have another tank for the danio fry...

So this is how it will be then:
    1. Bare bottom for the guppy fry tank
    2. Danios will get a layer plastic mesh so that the smart fry can survive... ;-)

When I used to breed danios and other such egg layers, I covered the bare tank bottom with a layer of marbles. The eggs faal between them where the parents cannot reach them untill you remove the parents.
The only problem I had was my son swiping my marbles when he was at the marble playing stage, lol!

I agree with Azerukoi. Dedicated tank for each species would probably be the best way to go.

I see the mesh working for egg layers. The eggs fall through, you can take out the parents when they are finished laying.
But I imagine that livebearer fry with just keep swimming through the mesh and could get eaten.
