    Hello, my 11yr old son and I are new to tropical fish and fish tanks. Been going strong for about 5 months with a single approx 60L tank, and so far so good (babies being eaten has become less traumatic, we are hardened!). Looking fwd to learning and sharing on this forum. Thanks.

    Thanks for the welcome. Doing some water changing and maintenance tomorrow, so will post some pics when it’s all spruced up. Also, we seem to have had some rapid reproduction in the tank (must be doing something right). If anyone wants babies … (Mollies or Gappies I guess) or snails then happy to donate (there’s no way the tank will sustain them all).

    Spring clean all done under the watchful eye of our tropical fish mentor … new plants which will mature over time … 1/2 tank water change/vacuum … sponge over the pump to stop the clogging … the learning continues. Pics below.

    For future reference the plant list:
    - amazon sword (unknown species)
    - cryptocoryne walkeri
    - ludwigia repens
    - limnophila sessiliflora
    - vallisenaria nana
    - pearl weed mixed with some baby tears
    - pogostemon stellata ‘octopus’
    - bacopa moneiri (from tank)
    - susswassertang (‘seaweed’)
    - salvinia (floating plant)

    All nice and easy ones that should do well in the gravel substrate. Looking forward to seeing it grow out!
