Only thing that has really changed is the lights - try using 1 light for a week and see if there is any difference - You have found the aquarists dilemma - How to keep all your fish happy and the plants happy at the same time -

If you add more plants, for a 220l quite a lot more actually, the plants use the nutrients the algae needs and tends to starve the algae..

One thing I forgot to ask - Is it brown or green algae ????

If it is brown, as your plants mature and the tank matures it will go away - bit of a pain in the bum to clean off though....

I had a major algae problem when my tank was fairly new - someone advised to keep the lights off for two-three days and that my plants will be OK. So I did and it really worked well.
