I'm getting a GSP fish today. At first I weren't going to buy it since I only have a 20G (aka 90L?) for it but hubby said we'll make a plan for a bigger tank for it. I was looking for the perfect inhabitant for my tank when I saw the puffer. Ok let me refrase that I was buying medication for my guppies that's sill in quarantine and we saw a female betta my hubby bought when I saw the puffer while looking at the fish the LFS has and even though I was hesitant he told me we can add the bigger extra hob filter that I have hook on my 200l to the originally planned betta tank and use the smaller tank with my extra sponge filter for my bettas.

I always run all my filters for just incase this will happen lol.
So my male Betta is in my 200l with my male guppies. My female betta in quarantine in the smaller tank and the GSP will go into the 90L today. All fish still quarantine like they supposed to be

Are you keeping the spotted puffer in freshwater?
If it is Tetraodon nigroviridis or Tetraodon fluviatilis then slowly raise the sg to around 1.005 by slowly increasing it each week by 0.001 with premixed water made with marine salt during water changes - Some plant species might not like the brackish water.
If it is Tetraodon schoutedeni then it needs freshwater - but this species is quite rare
They all look rather similar to each other.

Awesome little guys, i really like them!

As has been said, just double check if the brackish or not, there are a few experts on puffers on Tasa that can ID for you f you need

    Good luck with them

These are definitely GSP, so I'll have to slowly increase the salinity of the tank. Will get some Marine salt this weekend and all that thinga majig (can't remember what it's called) that measures the SG. And more snails.

They already ate out of my hand yesterday and this morning. I'm already falling in love with these little guys.

Salinity Refractometer/Hydrometer is what you would be referring to the thingamajig for measuring salinity in brackish water ;)

I got two, I only wanted to get one but hubby told me to take both. I didn't feel like argue about it so I did. I'm keeping a eye on them but the lady at the petshop said they weren't aggressive to each other and there wher a couple of mollies in there which they ignored for two week. She said they were supposed to be feeder fish but never got eaten.

I also asked her and she said the boss treated them for parasites when they came in.

Yeah thank you that was the name I was looking for.

Last night I found them in one cave resting together next to each other but in the day they mostly spend time on opposite sides of the rocky divider.
They only seem to eat blood worms and snail they had no interest in the shrimp piece I offered them but where on the blood worms like white on rice when offer them some.
The lady at the LFS didn't give them any snails so I'm feeding them some extra snails to help with their teeth.

They really are so damn cute lol. Hopefully I got some mild tempered puffer otherwise I will need to separate them which means I don't just need one bigger tank but two:eek:. Either way I'm keeping a eye on them.

Yeah puffers are smart little guys. My pygmy puffers would go to the exact same spot every night to sleep.

I'll try and post some pics on Tuesday since I can't take photos with this phone since the lens got damaged and I only have a pc connected with internet at work.

I don't think I'm going to keep anything else with them at this point of time. I'm rather happy with just the two puffers in the tank. Actually I'm a bit hesitant to add any other species of fish to the tank.

Ok so according to my son the puffers aren't mine because their tank is in his room:eek:  now they are his fish and I need to teach him how to look after them. If I want my own puffer fish I need to buy them that's what he just said to me lol.
