    hi guys and girls
i got an awesome bargain this weekend.
got a 6ft tank for a bottle of jameson. lol yes a bottle.
    the dimentions are 1800mmm long x 550mm wide x 500mm high.
it is made from 10mm glass, but the base are cracked really bad so will need replacing.
this tank will only be up and running by the end of the winter as i need to still build a hood for my 4ft.
i don't know what i'm gonna put in it yet so please i'm open for ideas.
and please all the tank building fundies.@f-fish i know you build your own tanks so please your input will be appreciated
AND A BIG THANKS FOR @a3aan. IF IT WASN'T FOR HIM I WOULDN'T HAVE GOT THIS BARGAIN, AND ALSO THANKS FOR TRANSPORTING IT FOR ME. I OWE YOU BIG TIME.
    here are a pic.
    sorry for the bad quality

Great deal man! Even with mix it's still a bargain.. :p

If you can... Opt for a 15mm base and bottom braces. Can even consider adding a brace on he top just to play it safe. As for ideas... What is your budget like? Are you going the sump route or canister? If that was my tank I would add big pieces of wood and some nice rocks to get a nature theme going.

hahahaha yes it still is a bargain. as for budget that is one of the reasons it will only go up in the summer. thinking of going the sump route its going to be alot cheaper as i already got a 3ft i can use as a sump.
deffinatly gonna add some bracing on the top and bottom.
eish 15mm is going to cost an arm and a leg.

what do you guys think of 10mm foating base

Morning....... Nice tank there.... :) don't worry I was also laying awake thinking up plans. Also I almost got the glass contact sorted. And the stand is waiting here for you.

Ps I found another guy in Bloem with a 1m x 1m x 65cm high cube I'm looking at. Was a marine setup with centre (like dead middle of tank so nice 360 degree views) overflow sump stand the works for R2500

Congrats on the tank. That sounds expensive. I paid R1450 for my 1.2x0.5x0.5m made from 10mm glass with top and floor bracing.

thats not alot for all that glass, but you know we are in Soekfontein(Bloemfontein). you battle your ass off to get something and when you get it you must pay the price. but then again if i buy that glass the whole tank costed me R1400 so far.

@llewellynkearney if you look at it like that then yes it is not bad, well if you cannot get the glass cheaper else where then it is a bargain.

Good luck with replacing the base, are you going to reseal the whole tank?

I know I had to clean my monster tank when I received it took me a good couple of hours. Just vinegar and those sharp scraping blades.
