Good air pump brand

Hi guys,

What is a good air pump brand that has spares available? I need to buy a new air pump, but I want one that will be reliable but also one that I can service when it eventually needs it!

I have now gone through three Sonic pumps in seven months. Two of them were diaphragm issues, but I was told that no-one stocks spare diaphragms these days as air pumps are seen as "consumables'' these days and no-one bothers to fix the anymore, just buy a new one.

I have a sponge filter for my shrimp, so I do need an airpump, otherwise I'd just spend the money on a different type of filter.

Is Tetra worth it?

 

Tetra seems ok, I have one, never needed spares though....don't run it all the time

 

tetra pumps are nice and run quite silent too ..

 

I use 6-7 Hagen Elite 802.
Spare diaphragms are available and cheap.

 

Ah ja, i had an Elite 802 back in the day with my first tank, it ran for ages, it rocked.. Well, in the end when i went to my lfs they only had a tetra 300 (far bigger than i needed), some Sonics and then a Dophin 5500. But i needed something asap! I've heard that the dophin canisters are pretty good quality for their low price, so I figured I'd go with the dophin.. It actually looks like it's a copy of the Elite 802

But ja, sorry, don't you hate those people that ask for advice and then don't take any of it?

 

All air pumps are probably made in the same factory in China
