hectic i know alot of local shops that would be in a lot of cr@p if those laws were put into effect here..

 

you know whats also insane, i only found out this weekend, that a wedding my cousin attended , instead having the traditional bouquets of flowers on the tables, they had siamese fighting fish as decor for the tables and when the wedding was over, you are allowed to take the fish home, there must been like a 100 guests, i'm guessing 5 people per table, so thats 20 siamese fighters, my cousin took one home, but she ended up killing the fish, imagine how many more died...

 

That seems to be the new table deco for weddings helped a friend that had a shop do this for a wedding. Stuck his business card to each tank as well as basic care , feed once a day a little flakes as well as change 30% of water once a week, was a small bowl with 2 goldfish in.

 

Ridiculous. I know there's a lot of LFS that will sell anything to anyone but really now. I started keeping tropical fish at about 6 or so and looked after them just fine.

 

go read the new consumer laws - SA shops are in for a naaaaaaaaaaasty

 

I thought it was a joke, although maybe similar laws are actually necessary...

long story short - the buck stops with the retailer. the end users can/will sue the retailer for selling bad/crap/useless/off/dead/spoilt etc products - even if it is as is from the wholesalers.
