Just wondering if it's unusual for them to be aggressive,i had 2 but the bigger one (about as long as my finger) killed the smaller one by pinning it to the ground and it eventually died.It also seems to like to chase any nearby guppies away.

Also how big do they get?

dang, well i hope he doesn't kill the guppies.

They had these in with the guppies at the petshop and they seemed fine,i still need to sort out my male to female ratio for guppies.6 males and 7 females,3 females already pregnant.

How big is he now? In theory, they can get to about 30cm, but I've rarely seen any over 20cm.

They're only a problem with bottom dwelling and large-bodied fish (which they may attempt to suck the mucous off of), which will be frequently harassed.

About 7-10cm,my mom bought them when i went to buy some guppies,i'm not sure if i should keep him because i'm planning to add some Oscars next year and either give the guppies away or they'll become Oscar food once they get big enough.

I've seen setups, both where Oscars and Chinese Algae Eaters get on fine, and then other setups where it just didn't work. I honestly believe that it should work, provided that you have sufficient space and the fish are of similar size - that being said, be ready to move one or the other should things not work out.

My tank is 500L and only has 13 guppies along with the algae eater,i'm planning on adding the Oscars while they are still small though i'm guessing the algae eater will be allot bigger by next year.

I had one of those chinese algae eaters and it use to rip some of my angels fins apart. It use to chase the angels the most and sometimes my gouramies. He was an interesting character till I had to sell all my fish because I got 2 oscars. The problem I've got with my oscars is that they only eat life food or if you stick your finger in, it is life food and you will get bitten by the female oscar. Be aware that I've seen oscars ripping angels fins off and then the oscar is maybe 3cm big and the angel adult size.

I enjoy chinese algae eaters as they are always busy with playing hide and seek and then chase the hell out of other fish, but I didn't enjoy it when he T-bone another fish(looks like an accident). They normally only attacks the bigger fish in a tank.
