    Hi all

    I had joined this forum a while ago but then had to decommission my tank when i moved house and have not had the finances to set it up again (dreaded home renovations). I have quite an old 2 meter tank and want to set it up again but the front glass is very scratched from years of use and abuse. Whats the recommendations to fix this? Should i try polish it out or replace the whole piece of glass? I don't quite feel comfortable replacing the glass myself as 100's of liters of water leaking out onto our new floors will equal divorce :bigsmile:. I live in Northern Suburbs CT so does anyone recommend someone to do this.

    Replacing the glass is always better. Luckily you are in Cape Town, give Gapedi tanks a call! No taking risks with a 2m tank.

    Thanks i will look him up. Measured the tank last night and it is 2005 (l) x 615 (h) x 508 (w) so hope it doesnt cost me too much beer money to replace it.

    Haha i bet it will be. I bought the tank, stand and a couple of accessories about 10 years ago for R1000 so i shouldn't complain too much.

    If you stay with Light beers you might still be able to drink occasionally.
    Any of the good stuff, and it is going to be a dry spell.

    I would rather drink water and eat dry bread than risk a tank going bust on me.
    Apart from the loss of the fishy friends, the devastation in the house would be very expensive.

    I have set up a 2 ft planted tank in the mean time to get back in the swing of things but surprisingly enough my wife is actually nagging me to get the 2 m tank setup as she finds the empty tank in our passageway an eyesore.

    I think you have solved a problem a lot of people with MTS have.
    To get past the SO in your house, simply park a newly acquired empty tank in a prominent place in the house, until they nag you to fill it as it is unsightly.

    @howard - I have the same problem.
    Mine goes shopping with me quite often, and knows the prices of most of the everyday stuff.
    A lot of LFS I visit have had a lot of crazy specials lately, on everything from lights, filters, substrate and plants.
    At least that's what I told her, and I hope she believes most of it.

    Haha glad to see I'm not the only one. I really wish all my toys and hobbies actually did cost what i told my wife they did.

    If they cost what I told mine they did, I would have many more tanks, a dedicated fish room, and some money in the bank.
