    Hello fellow fish lovers,

So I bought some glass catfish, 8 to be exact, from pet masters, 3 weeks from tomorrow. Once home I transferred them into a clear jug I use for my fish duties, to get a good look at them. What I saw on one of the larger ones were 2 white spots. So naturally suspected they have ich, I have had to battle with ich in the past so followed a common method with a quarantine tank some paraguard once a day, water changes twice a week and feeding blood worms with seachem focus and metroplex mixed into the worms.

Things I have noticed is that they have become more active, actively feeding, and generally looking better. In fact I even got one with a crooked spine which has now become straight... no idea what that might have been, thought it was a birth defect, guess not.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks in quarantine with the above procedure, but that first catfish with the 2 white spots still has them, they have not moved. In my experience ich cysts will "move" ie fall off and new ones appear. However these have not moved at all and no other fish seems to have the infection. Is it possible that its just part of him, like a birth mark? I am nervous of treating them for longer with meds as I say its going on 3 weeks. But also dont want them in my main tank if they are still infected.

    Any ideas?

And if I remember they are scaleless fish so normal medications might kill them.

Doubt that it’s ich as the spots haven’t moved / changed in 3 weeks nor spread on this fish or onto to other fish. Perhaps keep them in QT for another couple of weeks without treating?

Sometimes the protozoan lodges them inside the tissue and when it heals up they are basically stuck in limbo. Almost like a wart.
