Went to the lfs this weekend and they had these labelled as "Ghost Tinfoil Barb".

Can't make up my mind. Nice, or another one of those monstrosities??

Not too expensive. £6 (R110 approx) each

    The eyes look almost alien.
I am not a fan of barbs, but those are certainly different.

    Neither am I

Am a bit un-enamoured with my tank at the moment.
Cichlids don't seem to work. They just end up picking at the Rays. Even the relatively placid species.
I have Silver Dollars, but they a just a bit boring silver.
A lot of other fish are too small and risk getting eaten.
So these may be an option.

I have the day off today. Need to do some chores that I can only do during the week.
My travels took me near the lfs and I popped in to have another look at these.

There are now 2 in my tank.
Possibly should have gotten a few more but I think my tank will be overstocked if I have more than the 2

Tinfoils appreciate the shoal a bit more as juveniles, adults move together more as loose congregations rather than the schools you'd see in say, rasboras or danios. Don't worry too much about the numbers in that regard.

I've always liked the big cyprinids. Really bring the tank to life, and usually a great appetite (a big draw for me with any fish).

One issue I had not considered is how nippy they might be. So far, they seem ok, but will have to keep an eye on them.

I have had 4 normal tinfoils from small to place with my albino arowa bt the issue I had was that the tinfoils dart around and chasing each other and scared my arowana. The tinfoils also greedy and consumed all the food aswel. Tinfoils was 19 to 20cm big and arowana of 28cm. Aslo removed 2 of them to give arowana more chanse to get food bt still hade same problem.

I must say that the 2 golden tin foils i have is also very fast and will take all the food hahaha but lucky for me the jag comes close to the surface and gets his share of the food the 2 tin foils also hangs out and mostly keep to them self's. That jag strikes are fast though.

    So far, it's been ok.
In fact, one of the Barbs has a little nick out of it's tail. Maybe from the other one? Or one of the Dollars?
