    Hi guys,

    My tank is running nicely and everything seems quite stable, but my GH and KH seem a bit low.

    I've tested the water again today and the parameters are as follows for my 50l tank:

    GH = 3°
    KH = 1°
    pH = 7.2
    NO2 = >0,3mg/l
    Temp = 26.8°C

    Are these parameters okay to add some fish, or should I get something from an LFS to push up the GH & KH, I'll be keeping Corys, Harlequin Rasboras, Guppies, Mollies and/or Platies, etc?

    I can't remember what my GH & KH parameters were on my past setups, as it was quite long ago, but I never lost fish in my big tank and the plants were also doing quite good, and this tank won't be having any plants, only fish, so your advice would be must appreciated. :)

    Thanks,

    M

    Those perameters are fine for the type of fish you wanting to keep. As long as you not adding any CO2 to the tank for plants you are actually fine.

    What concerns me though is your location is CT, which is very well known for their exceptionally low GH. I suspect there may be something wrong with the test kit you used as a gH of 3 is pretty high for CT.
    (I'm basing this assumption on tap water!)

    Thanks for the reply... I'm actually wondering the same thing... this test kit definitely not new... it's a couple of years old... I'll get a new one rather today and test again.

    Cheers man.
