getting a betta tank made

hi guys so before my ladies arrive i decided to get a new tank made (any excuse) by the place up the road from me. i went up and got a quote and i dont think its too bad, R175 for a tank 580mm long x 410mm wide x 250mm high in 4mm glass (i dont think it'll be that much cheaper if i make it myself and im liable to make a mess of it lol). their builder is away this week so they can only start it next week which is fine. im really looking forward to the extra space to design with.

anyway im going to use perspex to make a sort of half hood which the light will attach to, do you think its nesscary to make a complete hood? the inhabitants will be 4 bettas and 2 khuli loaches neither of which are major jumpers. if i should do a full hood id try design something with a sliding door for feeding so i dont have to lift it so much. the date when my ladies are arriving is looming and i cant wait for them to arrive!! ideally i can get the tank sort of on the same day as they arrive so that i can redisgn everything and so that vulcan doesnt get protective of his "territory" i can then also possibly do a moss wall on the back which could look cool or could paint it a dark grey or black. will have to have a good think lol. out of interest how many litres will this tank be? i can never work it out right hehe.:bigsmile:

 

A full tank of water will be around 59.5 litres so with everything in gravel etc. your looking at +- 50 to 57l

 

Hi Windfire I just want to warn you that you may be sadly greeted by a dry betta one day. Bettas wil and can jump if they feel like it so rather make sure you make a complete cover.
