They won't eat the small fish. I've got mine withe silver tip tetra and cherry barbs.

They may eat/ uproot your plants though

Thank you for the response , Luckily all the plants are epiphyte , most are attached to wood and rocks if that helps ,

Sorry to hear that. Maybe try Exotic Pets in Hillcrest. The guys there are really awesome. They often have rare or hard to get fish. Just recently they had two silver arowana’s in that they ordered for someone. I am going to ask them on Friday if they can order some severums for me. As no one down here has them.

    Hi All ,

So i have added some new inhabitants and removed some cos I'm planning on doing a full South American Biotope . 12 Rummy Nose and 9 Rainbow Boesmani were gifted to a friend of mine and I finally bought my Geophagus not Tapajos , but Surinamensis as I got them really cheap and also 2 red spotted severums , pics attached .Unfortunately of the 10 geos , only 8 of them survived :-( IMG_20211002_115425.jpg IMG_20211002_115425.jpg IMG_20211002_115253.jpg IMG_20211002_115254.jpg IMG_20211002_115255.jpg IMG_20211002_115330.jpg IMG_20211002_115242.jpg IMG_20210927_191414.jpg IMG_20210927_191345.jpg

    Moe updates to follow soon

South American cichlids are awesome . I have an SA tank and have had no issues thus far. I have green terror, Oscar, gold sevrum, fire mouth , blue acara and a feather fin . Oh an a few lemon plecs. So far everyone is getting along awesome. Everyone knows Ozzy the Oscar is tank boss. Followed by the blue acara funny enough. The green terror is a female and pretty much sticks to herself . You won’t be sorry I never get board of my guys.

The tank looks great and I love SA Cichlids

The only problem you probably going to have is that the Surinamensis get quite big, around at least 20cm maybe a little more as adults and the tank is going to be too small

The Severums will also get to a good 13/14cm as adults

Thanks Guys .The plan is to use this 4 foot as a grow out tank for the next 6 months until we move to a new property , then I can do a 6 foot install , and by that time the Geos and Severums will be the perfect size and I can also add more stock , I will be fetching some electric blue Accara his weekend as well .@Peter are the Green terror and Fire Mouth not aggro.

So far no, she is around 12cm now. The firemouth is around 8. Everybody pretty much coexists pretty peacefully touch wood. What I have done though, is never add a new fish that is bigger than the ones already in the tank. I have seen people get aggression issues when adding fish that are bigger, then the new big fish try’s to assert dominance over the others , they intern defend their place in the tank and fights break out. What I have noticed with my tank , everyone has their place in the tank hierarchy. First is the Oscar , second is the blue acara and third is the green terror etc. I recently added a young gold sevrum, about 4-5cm long. No issues at all. So I would say just be careful about the size of the fish you add. Always make sure they are smaller , but obviously not to small.
