In my community tank, a pair of Bolivian Rams spawned twice shortly after they were introduced to the tank from the LFS. At that stage there where only 5 Bolivians, 15 White Clouds and 8 Otocinclus in the tank. I added the 6 Whiptails from one of my other tanks to the community tank, and wham, a pair spawned a few days later. They have been in the other tank for quite a while and never spawned once. Then I got 6 Ramirez from the LFS and after being in the tanks for about a month a pair spawned on a rock as mentioned in a previous post. The White Clouds have been spawning none stop for the past couple of weeks. The females get nice and fat and I have seen them spawning in the plants.
After the second spawn, the Bolivians have not spawned again, and the same goes for the Whiptails. The Ramirez pair still hangs around together and I will have to wait and see if something happens again.
In my garage tanks, where the Whiptails come from, the Bronze Corries are forever spawning. This happens about every second week after a water change. The setup that I have there are two three foot tanks that run from the same sump. So the water conditions in both tanks are the same. In the top tank I have a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides, and they share there tank with 10 Neon Tetras and one Ancistrus. To date I have had no luck with spawning the Apistos, but the Corries spawn in the same water conditions.
The water conditions in all my tanks are very similar, so what could the reason be for this erratic spawning behavior of all my fish.

    Hi

I love the spawning part, in this is only what comes natural to them.

Remember, you give you fish optimum conditions, water, temp and feeding, they gonna spawn as often as what they can, so this is a sighn that you are doing the basics right, and that your dish is thriving!

@oscar freak, guppies won't get a chance to breed if you keep them with Oscars.

Being aromas close to death I can fathom, staying out of the jaws of death during the gestation period is the difficult part. Lol

Back to the Apistos, should I add another female to the tank and see what happens. Bit worried that the two in the tank might kill her.

No, if their water is right, it is usually quite difficult to keep A. Cacatuoides from spawning... Try adding a little peat to their filter. But not for a long time. Maybe for a week or so. Softening the water slightly should help with all those species. Also, cooler water induces spawning in quite a few corries. That's why they spawn, after a water change.
