    Where did you get/find them?

Because even my LFS can’t get them, at least not at a reasonable price.

Ahaha, they are rare as hens teeth so when you do find them don't expect to pay a reasonable price for them anything upwards of R 45 a fish. I got mine with a fish tank I bought off the APSA forum.

I have successfully bread these guys, and I have about 80 of them in my 4 foot tank, they are one of my favourite fish, and have awesome little personalities. I actually was privelaged enough to watch them spawn last week Saturday in my 3 foot tank. As they grow older they do not school anymore, but do spawn as a school. They are rear, and on most sites, they will advise you to only buy them for breeding purposes as they are threatened in the wild. They are rather new in the hobby and they where discovered only in about 2007 or so, cant remember the exact date.

Exactly, as much as I want these fish considering they are so small, the price for a good sized shoal just seems a bit ridiculous.

If you want a nice fish that shoals, try the green axelrodies, cheaper and awesome. Smaller then a neon, slightly larger then the galaxie.

@francoisve my breeding days are over for now, I have spend most of my days breeding, now its planted tanks and scaping, siting down and enjoying the view, without doing 1000`s of litres of water changes. But when I do start again, I will start with them as they are rather easy to breed.

I got myself ten of these at Dorry Pets at R35 each, they were very small, but they settled in nicely in my 4ft and are growing nicely. I have found their shoaling instincts are not that great, maybe if you have more in a tank they will shoal better or in a species only tank. Little is known about this species as they were only discovered in 2006/07 like Hennie said and they approaching the endangered list pretty quick, I would also advise if you get some to try and breed them. But they are beautiful fish, they almost look like mini trout!
