Thanks guys ... yeah it is nice to sit and work in the fishroom, sounds of water splashing etc (when it gets to load it means it is time for a top-up).. not that big a job, feeding is done in about 1 minute flat (morning and evening)- then I watch the fish for a while .. WC are so so, been better but I do them seldom - so that is OK.

I have replaced my feeding grinder so now it takes even less turns to feed the tanks.

So feeding is easy - a few twist of a spice grinder and the food is mixer and dumped into the tank - no fishy hands and really simple.

To run a easy to keep fishroom, a WC must be simple. Below a pic of me doing a clean out of the 550 before I moved the aqua soil in. Remove fish, hardscape and clear most of the silica substrate then I used the pipe that leads to the garden to vacuum the remainder of the bits. I also run a pipe from the counter water filter unit straight into the tanks - don't use any chemical and rely on the .3 micron filter and carbon to clear the nasties at tap.



Without this WC would be an all weekend slog.

Awesome fish room you got here, how about updating all your tanks. You told me on Saturday that you got 24 tanks now.

Take some time for us envious tasa members wishing we could have so many tanks LOL.

yeap - 14 inside and 11 with outside and another ready to be born - so that should make it an even 26

More PICS ... funny I was thinking combining all the tanks into a single thread, but that might just de focus on each of the experiments.

 

Sweeeet man, maybe you can just post pics of all your tanks with specs. So we can see all your tanks in one thread. Everone would be chuffed seeing all your tanks.

 

26 tanks x 5 min per photo + upload + comment = > more than two hours, but then the sun is down ... ag nee no more natural light ;-)

The top one is interesting .. low light only deflections - no filtration (actually non of the small tanks outside run filtration) and it has some good growth.

So that is the lot - minus the glass panels for the one that still need to be born ;-)

13 years and counting ... 1 rule stay out of the lounge - actually the other 1/4 is rather cool about the fish thing, except LFS that sell dogs and cats. I have had to walk away from a purchase or two.

 

Ok. You got a few on me. 8yrs and only allowed 3 tanks.

 

iv got three tanks and 5yrs. every time a new tank comes around there is, now thats it no more!
we love them they love us :laugh:

I'm not sure how you keep up with tank maintenance to be honest. I battle to find time with the 3 tanks I have.

Got 3 more x-hand 3ft tanks ..


they are now outside next to the moved bare bottom setup - but with more shade. The bottom 3 ft catches all the WC from the indoor tanks, thinking of doing live food in the other top two.

The today's install.



The stand and some small tanks potentially for the killifish. Already running a sponge filter on the bottom 2ft ( this is the albino convicts) might do something similar on the small tanks .. time will tell.

This winter I took the opportunity to "insulate" the fishroom from the lounge (fishroom = dinning room that was connected to both the kitchen and lounge) hence the extra space for the stand and tanks

The latest has pushed the total up to 34 tanks .. but maintenance is now becoming a small issue esp after my holiday, the rhythm is just not the same so I am using this to clean-up clear out and relocated for the summer.
