I have never heard of it and my thinking is that if Google can't find it, it isn't there to be found!

You also get freshwater jellyfish but a FW squid would have been cool.

Think the freshwater jellies are found in the Sullawesi Islands off the coast of Borneo.... they are small islands, attol like, where the central lagoon/lake over time became freshwater - the trapped jellies addapted to fresh over time - they got this interesting behaviour where they migrate through the water to follow the sun asd they utilise symbiotic algae cells to produce food - not hunter jellies at all....
Seem to remember you get a Freshwater Damselfish in some of those lakes as well...

As a kid collecting marines for my tank in the Eastern Cape, often found a small squid species (locally called a "Tjommie/Tjokkie)") in estuarine environments - looks a lot like a short bodied, frilly appendaged tjokka - caught one once and kept it in my Brackish tank for a while - voracious little predator catching and devouring fish up to twice it's size - Returned it to the river after a month or so when I had hardly any fish left...

I've done some reading and come across something known as a freshwater jelly - here's what they say on Wikipedia. Also, Cnidarians go through a medusa/polyp stage, where the medusa stage resembles jellyfish in some cases. Therefore freshwater Cnidarians may produce something that would appear to be a freshwater jellyfish.

@azurekoi - I'm interested to hear about that squid. As far as I knew, cephalopods weren't tolerant to any reduction in salinity. What salinity roundabouts were you keeping the little bugger in?

@SalmonAfrica - wouldnt have a clue mate caught it a RedHouse near PE - a good 8km from the rivers mouth - my dad and I used to go and fish there and thats where I caught it - my tank was filled from the river there...had no real insight at the age of 10 or so about salinity(and tides...lol),so this must have been one tough little bugger dealing with the fluctuations...
