    Hi Guys,
Not finding much info online about these two in terms of comparability.
They say what each is should be housed with, but I need to know if these two species can co-exist in the same tank?
Asking for advise from anyone that knows something factual please.
    Thanks.

    Hi there

These species are unfortunately not compatible. Bichirs are freshwater species, while the so-called "freshwater" morays actually need brackish water (halfway marine).

There is quite a bit on each online, but you won't find info about them together since they need very different living conditions, that would be detrimental or even deadly to the other species.

    Great species by themselves, though.

    Regards,

I initially read this is Ray. Doh

    Agree with @SalmonAfrica
Not compatible at all. Mainly due to the fact the so called FW Morays actually need brackish conditions to survive long term.
A happy, well fed Moray will grow quickly and prob end up eating the Bichirs.

Unless you find Gymnothorax poyuranodon in South African (massively unlikely) then it's a no from me.

Only the biggest saltwater morays can do that. Gymnothorax eels and similar, which are the usual for tanks, won't get big enough to chow most polys

Mine tore apart moderately large fish. If you've ever seen a hagfish or eel tying its body into a knot, well, you'll know what follows.

Plus G. tile, the common one, quickly reaches 60cm. It's not big by moray standards, but size like that puts a lot more options on the menu.
