I found two baby Olive Thrush birds that fell out of a 15 m tree. The one was dead but the other one totally fine. Luckily I have experience with rescuing wild life. I fed him crickets, earthworms, grapes and a bit of baby parrot formula. To my surprise one of the parents flew to my window with a mouth full of worms. I can't put him back in the nest as the tree is to high. So I built a nest box outside my window. So now he's outside during the day where the parents feed him and at night I bring him inside as the parents don't want to stay at this nest. So far he's doing well and his name is Einstein (look at his hair due) [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Same thing happen to myself and family, but with a bush pigeon. Fed him ProNutro though. Left him outside during the day for parents to feed him after they arrived. Then every evening when we got home he would be waiting at the door and as soon as we opened the door he would walk in first.

I once found a baby dove on the ground
Tried to hand feed it. But unfortunately it died after a day or two :(

Thats so sweet. I had a Speckled rock pigeon that I foumd 2 years ago at my school. Indian mina's tried to kill him. I took him home and fed him and I had him for 2 years and he made a nest in my kitchen. I'm actually still sad because last week someone tried to kill him and broke his leg. I had to give him to a wild life rehabilitation centre or pay R25000 in vet bills. I miss him so much but I khow he's going to be happier there

Some doves are very sensitive and die easily if their thrown out of the nest. Like Laughing doves

Real little characters. Rescued one a few years ago. Kept the whole family busy for ages. Even traveled jhb to CT in the car for holidays.
Released into the garden at home. Still around apparently.
Awesome you have managed to retain parent involvement

    Thats absolutely awesome @Staffy

I had a Cape Robin we rescued couple years ago

We set her loose when she was recovered but she never went away
She nested and had babies several times over the years, either in my tool room os in the verandah next to my kitchen

She knew her way in and out my house through every window and door and spent ages singing inside
The cutest habit she had was to parade up and down on my dressing table in front of the mirror and sing away at her image!!

Top of my piano was another favorite spot

Then about 2 years ago she disappeared.. not sure if she eventually passed of old age or if something happened but i do miss her and her singing inside the house

I tried to rescue a mouse bird chick that fell out the cyprus tree in my front yard. I actually saw it tumble out the tree one windy evening. My son named him Eagle. After about a week he passed away. Was very sad.
