Fluval FX5

Hi all
Managed to get my hands on a fluval fx5. If I do decided to use it on my 450 tank what media do you guys recommend? I was only thinking about using it for mechanical filtration as the tank comes with a juwel internal filter that is used for bio filtration. I know about filter floss but the filter only comes with sponges outside the filter baskets. The rest you must add your self. Any ideas on media and where to get it would be appreciated. Looking for some thing that will polish the water

 

Use it with bio media and use the internal filter for filterfloss. Add seachem matrix to the fx5

 

I just use bio-balls and the filterfloss in my FX5. It works well, but I want to add matrix to the filter soon. I use to have the round filter mats that go into the different trays along with the bio-balls but I found the mats clog up to quickly and it affected the follow of the filter.

 

Fill most trays with Seachem Matrix or Sera Biomax (or something like that). Put some filter floss into the first tray that the water hits to filter any debris.
