I bought some floating plants to put in my tank at the weekend, and was wonding if anyone else out there has any fancy ideas of how to keep the stuff floating in one sort of area of the tank.

It sends to float rather untidily around the place, and quiet a lot into the tank as well... no all floating at the top.

Bloody good idea there mate :)

You can also use a suction cup and attach a piece of normal airline tubing to it (in a circle of course) and stick that to one side of your tank.
Or better yet, do it point to point on one scetion of your tank and the floating stuff won't cross over to the other side

    Eskimo...

Is that your tank with the Bubble wrap??? That is one STUNNING tank. I'm VERY jealous! If that's what a planted tank CAN look like.. then forget fish... I'm going into plant keeping!

    WOW

Would the bubble wrap not stop the air from getting into the water?

Solex, I can always be guaranteed to get good plant advice from you. Thanks mate. Will try the suction cup thing this evening after dinner.

Did some googling on planted tanks... man... planted tanks make a FAR better view in one's lounge than a whole bunch of fish.

You get fish tanks, and then you get WOW tanks... and those WOW tanks are the planted ones... I guess the fish is just free plant food...

I did the whole suction cup air tub thing... worked like a Bomb.

At least plant's don't die as fast as fish. I've just lost another one tonight!

Ummm... some plants can be even more tricky than fish, but on the bright side once you have a planted tank it will be so healthy you shouldnt ever lose a fish again...

I admit - a well planted tank looks absolutely stunning, but I'm afraid I haven't quite moved to the mindset that the plants come first and then the fish.......not saying it'll never happen but I really do appreciate a planted tank, just wish I could get it right :)

Its like owning a dairy farm (your actually grass farmer)

once you have healthy plants they take care of the fish

    Damn right :)

You got it a bit wrong there Gav...he grabbed me to the 'dark side', so blame him :D lol

@zoom - Greak down the tank and rebuild it man :) As you might have noticed, I've already given away 4 full carrier bags full of fish because of planted tanks. All my tetras, clown loach & cherry barbs are going this weekend. That'll only leave me with my 'dunno' X bettas, 18 X angels, 2 X torpedo barbs, 2 X keyhole cichlids, 2 X panda cories, 1 X SAE and 1 X Discus spread across 11 tanks. I'm thinking about parting with my pandas too, but Eskimo will have first dibs on them ;)

Planted tanks are the way to go man

I'm not going to stat breaking down now dude... my fish are all pegging too fast (7 fish in 6 days) so if I start fiddling now, the stress will cause even more fatalaties. And if I start that... the wife will be "Are you changing the tank AGAIN? Poor fishies". She's upset with me because her Betta died.

I need some front dwelling plants... hmmm... and maybe moss for the rocks.... um, anyone know how to grow moss underwater?
