Are there any legal or non blacklisted floating plants available in SA? and if so where can I get some?

Hornworth, water sprite, water wisteria are all readily available (eg lfs) and float well. Sure there must be others.

There's also a type of floating moss. I don't know the name of it though.

I was also looking for this at one point - something like salvinia or frogbit. Couldn't find anything. Some stores will have duckweed in their tanks, but they usually caution against it as it can end up taking over all of your tanks.

I have sulvinia in my tank. I believe it's Salvia molesta. It grows really well and fast and is much muxh easier to thing out then duckweed. And it makes beautiful little hanging roots that would be great for betta breeding[IMG][IMG]

    You asked for legal.

Whereas I also have Salvinia in my tank (and I love it) it is a serious weed in our rivers and not legal to own.

Several duckweed species are legal. Lemna, Spirodela, Wolffia spp.

Besides buying them, you can collect them from most of our rivers. The best time to lool for them is late summer and the best place is nutrient rich (i.e. dirty) water.
