    Good day all fish lovers.

    Its the Festive time of the year and it would be nice to see some wishes come true, be it through saving up till now to get that one thing you've wanted for your aquarium the whole year or just something small your adding this festive time to your fish collection. I would really like to hear what your plans are.

    I have been looking forward to a custom built tank for a while now and will soon have it.

    The tank is 840(L) mm X 450 (H) mm X 370 (W) mm , ill have a nice 140 liter tank now with sliding glass top and some really neatly done bracing. Why these measurements you may ask? I have this really nice sturdy wine rack made out of metal and some solid wood (I'm no wood expert but I've been told it is quality wood). So now Ill have my fish tank exactly fitting on-top of my wine rack so that works for me.

    I cant wait as now this means a start to a new tank"hood" in my place and on top of that I've been waiting for a while on this one, shopping around and looking for my best options.

    Looking forward to seeing some interesting posts up in here!!! :ridinghorse:

    PS* Ill post a pic as soon as the tank arrives!!

    I'm looking forward to finally setting up my 2ft shell dweller tank! But there's so many other little things that I want to spend money on that I may only finish setting the tank up around Feb..:(

    Well one thing I will NOT be doing. Is coming to SA over the Festive Period. :cry:
    First time in 8 years that I will be in the UK at this time of year.

    Reason - a combination of ever increasing airfares and my son has to write a high school entrance exam in early January

    That is soooo awesome!! @Sybille what Beta you planning on getting? I've got a beta tank as well, for almost 2 months now, the male keeps making the nest and destroyes it again after a few days

    @Adriaan Chamberlain I'm not 100 % sure yet.
    The original plan was to walk into a LFS and choose one - but I shopped around a bit, and I hate the way Bettas are kept at most pet shops. Don't really want to support that. (My inner do-gooder hipster is showing).
    So I'll probably see if I can find someone local to Cape Town who breeds them... Do you have any recommendations, by any chance?

    @Sybille I also don't really like how the LFS are keeping the Beta's. However I have not yet experienced any issues with them once purchased.

    I have a blue crown-tail, doing very great in the tank I created for it, to surprise you a bit, I have bought a vase, its a very long shaped vase and I put a internal filter in it, added my substrate and cycled it for one day, added some easy to clean plastic plants and a clip on light. The vase takes about 16l of water which is more than enough for them to survive and the water is quiet with no movement at the top, only at the bottom, got some hiding space for the female and they are really doing great.

    Planning on separating the male and female into two different tanks next to each other just to get the male really in the mood for her, then ill put her back and see if he actually builds his nest this time without breaking it up the whole time.

    Trust me the Beta is an extremely interesting fish and once you got one you'll just want more and more.
