These are some stunning pics. What camera did you use?

What is the fish in the same picture with your Red Parrot? It almost looks like either a Severum or a Flag Cichlid....?

    @Skye01 Thank you.

It was a Canon EOS 7D.

The fish next to the Parrot is a Golden Severum aka Golden Deacon

Awesome camera, so I'm not surprised that the pics are so stunning.

What a stunning fish, it really is very pretty. Is this the same fish as in post 3 picture 2? The one in that pic looks like it is gold and white. How may tanks do you have or do you have them all in a single tank?

    Hi,

Yes it is the same fish, I only have 1 of those. and Yes I have only 1 x 250L tank with all the fish in. I am planning to upgrade my tank in next 2 months to a 400 / 500 L tank to better accomodate the fish, seeing that they grow so fast, my oscar is sitting at 5" and the golden deacon at 3".

Yup, You are definitely going to have to look at upgrading, and pretty soon. I think that you would possibly need an even bigger tank than what you are suggesting. I've seen some really huge Oscars @ Loolilocks, so yeah.....

Where did you buy this Texas Cichlid...? Is it a male or female and how can you tell??
I have one of these (my avatar) and I'm searching everywhere for a mate for him/her...

I bought mine at Pet Masters in Boksburg some 5 months ago.

BTW: You take very nice photos :blink1:

Hello. The fish in the pic above is a Jack Dempsey see: http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Jack_Dempsey

I bought it a LFS in Bellville CPT, let me know if you want me to inbox you the name of this LFS.

With regards to you question on male/female see info below from: http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Jack_Dempsey

Please have a look at this species -> Herichthys carpintis: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=41 and have a look at the Juvenile Male photos. The reason why I see them as Texas Cichlids is specifically the Eye color and the turqoise and black spots.

This is a newer picture of mine, the pic in my avatar was taken about 4 months ago:
His/Her colors at other times are more Turqoise, than in this picture....
Do we have the same fish? Can you take a guess as to weather this one is male or female?

    Regards

I think its safe to say that we both have male's :cheesy:

Cichlids are truly a remarkable fish species. Can you believe that these fishs' colors change to such an extreme?? Unbelievable!

NOW I MUST GET A PARTNER FOR HIM!!!
