Fish tank stand complete

So after delaying the build for a few months i finally got around to finishing my 4ft tank stand. was pretty easy to build and came out better then i expected.



i still need to do a few tweeks to it like add a flap for the bottom tank and move the hood. but that shall come later

yeah i built it from SA pine. i do have a solidworks model of the stand if anyone would like it. i will just need to update it slightly

 

If I may ask, what sort of costs were involved???

 

i cant remember the exact cost of the wood. it was bought at the end of last year. i think it was just under 1k but i do still have a bit left over. varnish and stain was around R250, screws and wood glue im not sure, probably just over r100.

so all in all probably around R1000 if not just over.

so i have modified my tank stand a little. basically varnished it a little darker, adding sides to enclose it for insulation and painted the tanks. will put polystirene between the tank and the sides and back to help with heat retention as well.

i am almost finished putting it all together and plan on making a hood for the top tank soon.

i shall post more pictures as i get further along with this.

i managed to ge a little more done. both tanks are now in place with their back and sides painted.

now i need to but another LED light for the top tank and wire everything up properly then i can put the polystyrene for insulation and the panels on.
malawis seem to be rather happy exploring their new home.
