    Ok laugh if you want.

I notice that my fishes poop is hanging in lonnnng strings at their hinds and then it falls off. Is this normal for it to get so long before falling off or is there something wrong? I feed them flakes at the moment. Should I change to something else?

mmmmwaaahaahaahahaha - thanks I needed that stress relief first thing in the morning. :blink1:

Okay, seriously though. My fish sometimes also have relatively long poop, although not THAT long. To the best of my knowledge, as long as it does not have 'air bubbles' or is a transparent whitish colour then it isn't something to worry about too much. The poop will obviously change colour according to their diet, for instance, if I feed my angels bloodworms their poop is very reddish in colour but if I feed them their flake food it is a more brownish colour.

I guess you need to just establish whether it is outside of their 'normal' poop when feeding the same food. :smile1:

I can't believe I'm talking about poop, well at least I've finished my breakfast :blink1:

Do you know which fish have airbubbles in their poop?

My plecos use to have this (it use to float all over the place), and I found out that it was due to indigestion or constipation...I forget which. I then started feeding them more veggies on a regular basis, like cucumbers and baby marrow and that did the trick.

Airbubbles in the poop generally indicates a digestive disorder. This usually clears up pretty quickly though. However if the same problem occurs every time you feed that particular food, then it is better to avoid feeding the food causing the problem. A varied diet should always be given to your fish. For example: You are currently feeding your fish with flakes, try and include granule food and perhaps bloodworm in their diet as well. This will ensure that your fish are getting the correct balance of nutrients they require. Also, how would you like to eat the same food every day? :) Variety is the spice of life :)

No problem - it's always better to feed a variety of foods. I'm sure that'll sort itself out quickly then:bigsmile:

Try not feeding them for about a day or two and see if their poop becomes shorter. You might be feeding them a tad bit too much food thus their body is going ape on the secretion of the food.

I might be wrong but that's what my logic tells me :)

PS - This is the 'crappiest' thread on TASA btw :D lol

    Cheers

If your fishes show long strands of S*H*1*T, then you must consider that they may be constipated because you are only feeding flakes or granulates. Try feeding some frozen bloodworm , or white or black mosquito larvae, which contains some roughage and this will go away.

If you are have angels and discus with long strands of white S*H*1*T coming from their vents, then they are most likely to have infections of the hole-in-the-head organisms, so-called flagellate organisms, which cause quite serious disease.

However, mollies and other fishes do not suffer so do not get too worried.

And I agree that this thread is a bit crappy, Dale...

    Hope your constipation clears, guys....

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
